This sculpture is titled, "The Path".  It is my homage to Buddhism.

  • The Four Nobel Truths
  • The Eight Fold Path
  • The Jewels
  • Buddhist Unalome

This small Buddhist sculpture is symbolic of the main teachings of the Buddha. On one side the four brass bars symbolize the Four Noble Truths, the eight wood beads symbolize the Noble Eightfold Path and the three centered metal circles symbolize The Three Jewels.

On the other side is the Buddhist Unalome. In Buddhism, the Unalome represents the path we take in life; it’s a representation of our journey. The path can be winding or convoluted, but it eventually ends in a straight path, symbolizing mental freedom and enlightenment. The dot at the top of the Unalome symbolizes the jump to freedom and enlightenment.

Placing this symbol where you can see it every day gives you comfort as it reminds you that life is a journey full of twists and turns on the road to fulfillment but if you persevere you will reach your goal.

It measures 7 inches (17.78 cm) high, 4 inches (10.16 cm) wide and 2 inches (5.08 cm) deep, weighing .5 lbs. It is created with lumber, hardware, found objects, acrylic paint, brass bars, wood beads, wire, and tumbled marble.
