This Wabi-Sabi inspired sculpture titled, Great Empires, is sure to initiate conversation with its three ancient coins as a center focus.
- Roman Antoninianus coin from the late 3rd Century AD - 275 to 285 AD
- Roman Emperor, most likely Constantius II, Constans, or Constantine II - 330 to 363 AD
- Ancient Greek bronze coin from the Ptolemaic Kingdom of Egypt, Ptolemy III, Ptolemy IV, or Ptolemy XII between 246 BC and 51 BC
The ancient coins sit on the top center of the piece. All three coins are genuine ancient coins and not replicas. I purchased these from a reputable coin collector. The sides shown are the sides where the imagery was the clearest.
The topmost coin is an ancient Roman Antoninianus coin minted during the late 3rd Century AD – roughly 275-285 AD. This coin was minted under three emperors, Emperor Probus, Emperor Tacitus, and Emperor Numerian.
The second coin shows the portrait of a late Roman Emperor, most likely Constantius II, Constans, or Constantine II. The Constantinian dynasty was roughly from 330-363 AD.
The third coin depicts and Eagle. This is an ancient Greek bronze coin from the Ptolemaic Kingdom of Egypt. This coin was minted under the rulers Ptolemy III, Ptolemy IV, or Ptolemy XII between 246 BC and 51 BC.
This work has several other distinctive aspects, including aged steel, found objects, aged marble and hardware, and reclaimed wood.
This beautiful one-of-a-kind sculpture is 30.0 inches high, 11.0 inches wide and 5.5 inches deep, weighing 11.36 lbs.
